The Steps for Car Battery Installation

1. To begin, make sure your vehicle’s engine is turned off and cool, and the parking brake is engaged. Open your vehicle’s hood and find your battery in order to loosen the nut that connects the negative (or black) cable from the battery. Do this with a wrench (battery wrenches or pliers can make the job easier).
2. After you’ve loosened this nut, twist and pull off the negative cable. In the case that it is stuck, avoid using any tool to try and pry it off, as this could damage the battery.
3. Just like you did with the negative cable, remove the positive (or red) cable from the positive terminal.
4. Next, loosen the battery hold-down clamp, which keeps the battery from moving around inside the engine.
5. You’re now at the point where your vehicle’s battery is ready to be removed. Pull it out, but be extremely careful, as car batteries are heavy and a far fall could result in an unsafe leak.
6. Be sure to use a battery cleaning product or baking soda and water solution in order to remove corrosion that may be on the hold-down clamp or battery tray. 
7. Using a wire brush, clean the battery cable connectors with the cleaning solution you used in the previous step.
8. At this point, you’re ready to put in the new battery. Place the new battery in the battery tray and tighten the hold-down clamp.
9. Now, use the anti-corrosion solution you have and spray both the negative and positive terminals of the new battery before you connect them. This will help to prevent further corrosion and even extend battery life.
10. Next, attach the new battery cables to their respective battery terminals. First, connect the positive (red) cable, and then the negative (black) cable. 
11. At this point, double-check and make sure your connections are secure and try to move the battery to see if it will budge. If it doesn’t, then it should be alright.
